Building a long-term treatment plan
How a thoughtful long-term treatment plan can help you get natural, consistent results from aesthetic treatments without overdoing it.
Some people come to see me about one specific concern. Others want to look after their skin and face more generally over the coming years. For the second group, a long-term plan often works better than booking treatments one at a time.
A good plan is not about doing more. It is about doing the right things at the right time so results look natural and stay consistent.
Start with your priorities
At your first consultation we will talk about what bothers you most. It might be dull skin, fine lines, tired eyes or loss of volume. Ranking these helps us decide where to begin. Often the thing that would make the biggest difference to how you feel is the best starting point.
Skin quality often comes first
Healthy, hydrated skin is the foundation for everything else. Many people find that a course of skin boosters such as Profhilo or polynucleotides makes a noticeable difference by itself. It can also help other treatments look more natural later on.
Adding treatments gradually
If other treatments are suitable, we can add them in stages. For example:
- A skin booster course to improve hydration and texture
- Dermal filler to restore volume in areas such as the cheeks or chin
- Anti-wrinkle treatment for lines caused by movement, if a prescriber agrees it is suitable after a face-to-face consultation
Spacing treatments out lets us see how your face responds to each one. It also lowers the risk of doing too much at once.
Planning around maintenance
Most treatments need topping up to keep results going. As a general guide:
- Profhilo is often maintained around every six months
- Plenhyage XL Strong is usually maintained every six to nine months
- Jalupro Super Hydro and Seventy Hyal are usually maintained every six to twelve months
- Anti-wrinkle treatment typically wears off over a few months for most people
- Dermal filler lasts varying lengths of time depending on the area and product
Knowing these timings helps you plan ahead for holidays, events and busy times of year. These are typical ranges and your own timings may differ.
Reviewing as you go
Anti-wrinkle treatment with me includes a free review appointment around two weeks afterwards. For other treatments we will check in at your next session. I like to look at how things have settled before adding anything new. Your plan can change as your skin and priorities change.
Thinking about the seasons
Autumn and winter can be a good time for skin boosters as there is less strong sun. If you have a wedding or special event, it is best to start well ahead so any swelling or bruising has time to settle.
Home care is part of the plan
No treatment plan works well without good daily habits. Wearing SPF every day, using gentle skincare and not smoking all help protect your results.
Keeping it natural
My aim is always for you to look like yourself on a good day. A long-term plan helps avoid the overdone look by making small, considered changes over time. Results vary from person to person. I will always be honest about what to expect.
