Why your anti-wrinkle treatment includes a free review
What happens at the review appointment around two weeks after anti-wrinkle treatment and why this check-in is an important part of safe, considered aesthetic care.
Every anti-wrinkle treatment at Lucy's Beauty Lounge includes a review appointment around two weeks afterwards. There's no charge for it. Some people see it as optional, especially if they're happy with how things look. It's well worth coming back though. Here's why.
Anti-wrinkle treatment takes time to settle
Anti-wrinkle injections don't work straight away. For most people the effect starts to show after two to five days and builds gradually. It usually reaches its full effect at around two weeks. Checking in before then can give a misleading picture because the muscles are still responding.
By the two-week mark you and your practitioner can see the true result. That makes it the right time to look at how your face is moving.
What happens at your review
The review is a short, relaxed appointment. It usually involves:
- Talking about how you feel about your result
- Looking at your face at rest and while you make expressions
- Checking both sides look balanced
- Asking about any side effects you noticed
- Answering any questions you have about the weeks ahead
Faces are rarely perfectly symmetrical. Sometimes one brow responds a little differently or a small area of movement remains. If your prescriber feels a small adjustment is appropriate, this can be discussed at the review. Not everyone needs one. Many people simply have a quick chat and leave reassured.
Why it matters for safety
A review is good practice in aesthetics. It gives your practitioner the chance to check that you've healed well. They can also make sure any side effects, such as bruising or a heavy feeling in the brow, are settling as expected. It's an easy moment to raise anything you weren't sure about at the time.
It helps plan your next treatment
Everyone responds differently. Some people have strong muscles that need a slightly different approach next time. Others find a lighter result suits them better. Notes from your review help shape any future treatment so it fits your face and your preferences.
Results from anti-wrinkle injections usually last around three to four months, although this varies. Knowing how your face responded at the two-week point is useful information whenever you next decide to come in.
Tips for getting the most from your review
- Make a note of anything you noticed in the first two weeks
- Come with a clean face if you can so your skin and expressions are easy to see
- Be honest about what you like and what you'd change
- Bring any questions about aftercare or future plans
The first step is always a face-to-face consultation with a prescriber to check anti-wrinkle treatment is right for you. Lucy offers a free 15-minute consultation in Addlestone where you can ask anything you like.
